TurboTax has discontinued ItsDeductible. If you don’t know what ItsDeductible was, it was a simple product from TurboTax that helped someone log donations and prepare them for their tax return. If you’re someone who regularly donates items to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, or local charities, you could already be mourning the loss, especially with the April 15 tax deadline coming.
With ItsDeductible, someone could log charitable donations as they happened, categorize them (clothing, household items, furniture), and ItsDeductible would automatically assign fair market values based on IRS guidelines and Salvation Army value guides. Then it exported a clean summary for your tax return. It was a straightforward charitable donation tracker that worked and served a clear purpose. If you need something that works, doesn’t require a learning curve, and can be implemented before tax season chaos peaks, we built something for you. And we made it with AI using only three prompts.
SpireTech’s ItsDeductible Replacement Spreadsheet
We created an Excel spreadsheet that does exactly what ItsDeductible did: track charitable donations, categorize them, assign fair market values, and generate a clean summary for tax filing. Just like ItsDeductible, it’s simple and free.
What it does:
- Track non-cash charitable donations by category (clothing, household items, furniture, sporting goods, etc.)
- Auto-assign fair market values based on condition (Good, Better, Excellent)
- Uses Salvation Army Donation Value Guide for FMV estimates
- Auto-calculate totals per category and overall donation value
What it doesn’t do:
- Replace your CPA or tax advisor (you still need professional tax advice)
- File taxes automatically (this is a tracker, not a filing tool)
- Provide tax advice on deductibility (consult your tax professional)
- Require a paid subscription (it’s free!)
Why We Built This With AI
We made this tool in a few minutes with three AI prompts. We missed the easy tool that we used to track our own donations and made this for our own use. It was pretty easy to ask the right things of the AI to give us what we needed without a lot of time or work.
The three prompts:
- “Create a charitable donation tracker structure with categories matching IRS non-cash contribution guidelines”
- “Add fair market value tables based on Salvation Army value guide with Good/Better/Excellent condition tiers”
- “Format for Excel with clean UI, auto-sum formulas per category, and total donation calculation”
With those instructions, AI generated the structure, formulas, formatting, and validation rules in minutes. After testing it and refining the category names and values, we decided to share it and make it available for download.
AI is quickly evolving and becoming more sophisticated every day. SpireTech’s AI Services are designed to make AI approachable and useful for your current workflows and tasks. There are a lot of use cases for each business, as long as you know what tasks you want help with.
Disclaimer: We’re Not Accountants or Tax Advisors
An important note: SpireTech is an IT services company, not a CPA firm or tax advisory service. This spreadsheet is a tool for tracking charitable donations — it does not provide tax advice, determine deductibility, or guarantee IRS compliance.
- The fair market values are estimates based on Salvation Army guidelines — not IRS-approved values
- Consult your CPA or tax advisor for deductibility questions
- We’re sharing this as a use case, not as a tax product
If you need tax advice, talk to your CPA. If you need IT support and AI tools that make your workdays easier, talk to us.

What This Spreadsheet Tells You About SpireTech
Tax season is brutal. It doesn’t need to be unnecessarily difficult. We built this because we needed it and thought others could too.
But it is a great example for how we choose to work. We use AI to solve real problems, we are transparent about how we do so, and we focus on business outcomes. Our metric isn’t “how cool is the AI?” It is, “does this save time, reduce stress, or cut costs?” If the answer is yes, we want to make it happen.
A lot of people are unsure if AI would fit into their current operations. We can tell you now: yes, AI can help you. It can’t replace the people in your company, but it can act as customized and very specific tools to help the people doing the work.

FAQ: ItsDeductible Replacement
Q: What replaced TurboTax ItsDeductible?
A: TurboTax discontinued ItsDeductible on October 21, 2025, with no direct replacement. SpireTech created a free Excel spreadsheet that replicates ItsDeductible’s core functionality: tracking charitable donations by category, auto-assigning fair market values based on condition, and generating year-end summaries for tax filing.
Q: Is this spreadsheet free to use?
A: Yes. The SpireTech Charitable Donation Tracker is free for Portland taxpayers, charitable donors, and CPA firms. No subscription, no paid tiers, no hidden costs.
Q: How was this spreadsheet created?
A: We used AI to generate the spreadsheet in three prompts. AI created the structure, formulas, formatting, and fair market value tables. We refined category names and values to match Salvation Army guidelines and IRS non-cash contribution categories.
Q: Does this work for Schedule C filers?
A: No. This tracker is for non-cash charitable contributions (donations to Goodwill, Salvation Army, charities). Business expenses for Schedule C filers require a different tracker. This tool is for individual taxpayers claiming charitable deductions.
